I’m Georgie and I have an itch to spend more time enjoying the finer things in life; which for me are gaming and cross stitch. Unfortunately, life finds a way to keep throwing curveballs right in my direction. Along with the time consuming activities of work and the usual adult life stuff (chores, shopping, family time etc) this leaves me with very little time for anything else.

My main curveball was my life was turned upside down by fibromyalgia and myalgic encephalomyelitis (aka M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/CFS). I went from fit and healthy, gym 4 times a week, loving and living life to unable to move without crippling pain. It was a massive shock, mentally and physically and to say it was life changing isn’t an understatement. With the help of an amazing doctor I got a diagnosis in October 2018 and with support and medication was able to start piecing my life back together. You’re never cured of fibro or CFS but with a lot of medical and self help I’m no longer on medication and have somewhat of a balance. The issue is my conditions manifest themselves in many ways, but mainly painful crippled hands and feet (sometimes the ‘claw’ position is helpful for holding a controller) and bouts of zero energy and high fatigue. Being exhausted and an inability to use my hands isn’t great for the hobbies I have!

This is my journey of dodging those pesky curveballs, living with fibro/CFS, adulting more efficiently, working less and living more. Join me, the family and the pets as I work through my gaming back catalogue of shame and my stitching stash of shame. I cannot promise not to purchase new games or stitching stuff, it will happen, these are habits as much as hobbies!

Balance and pacing will be key, I have neither of these skillsets. I’m an eclectic, introverted, sarcastic completionist with a stubborn streak. Hopefully this should be interesting if nothing else….
