After yesterday’s lockdown announcement I needed to switch off my brain a bit. Gaming doesn’t do that some days, so my go to is TV binges and cross stitch. I know this is crafty rogue gamer but my ‘main’ craft to be honest is cross stitch. I think because it’s like a puzzle or jigsaw but you actually get something at the end of it to keep. I’m aware you can glue jigsaws and keep them together but that’s a lot of space I dont have! At least fabric folds!
So my overall idea and theme at the moment is working through unfinished games and projects. About a month ago I picked the most finished thing out of my box of doom (unfinished and unstarted projects). It wasn’t game, music or tv themed it was a unicorn kit

Now I love and I’m into pretty much all things mythological but picking this up did make me sigh. I’ve fallen out of love with it. But I’m stubborn and up for a challenge so the quicker I get this done the quicker I can move on to something else. JC’s daughter B saw me doing it one day and asked what it was. I showed her and explained and she seemed intrigued and to like it. So maybe when it’s done it can find a good home with her and that gives me more motivation to finish it.
Before I continue, I feel the need to declare I have 2 cats and a puppy. Pet hair on projects is inevitable for me although I do try to minimise it the best I can. Anyway, my starting point when I first picked it up on 10th February was this:

And as of right now I’m at this point:

I didn’t realise how much I’d managed to do until I put them next to each other. With time issues and fibromyalgia, stitching is really challenging and some days I just can’t because of the pain and hand swelling. But I just try again the next day and the day after until I can manage it.
This week’s stitching binge watch is Hoarding: Buried Alive. The psychology behind hoarding really interests me as does personal organising as a career path. With no offence or judging meant it also does make me feel better about the state of the house some days!
